The Day the Earth Stood Still

Can there be peace when there is diversity? If not there will be war. War is not good...we need to learn how to work and live together. The opposite of that is just too dreadful to think of.

I disagree. I think that the organizing powers of hatred and love act within their sphere to destroy individual and group.

Not necessarily group. Hatred seems to feed on taking down individuals as well as groups.

War is primarily about a group dynamic. It is not too dreadful to think of. Hell. I'm american.
We're cornering the market on it.

We have in the last administration pioneered a ghastly new molecule of war corporatism which circumvents the polity.

From a dilbert I read recently:
(Dogbert is applying to join
a company in the military industrial complex)

Military Industrial Complex Guy:
"So you would attack our allies?"

Dogbert:
"The ROI is better".

Sad fact. Some people will go to war just to clear off the inventory of their ammunition. Some people build up their entire inventories based on conflict.

And no conflict. Means no sales.

Peace sells...

But who's buying?

I have missed your thoughts! (hurrah for healed technology.)

This is strong & crisp & clear. Must be residual from the effective "dd" today.

my question: "can there be peace when there is diversity - if not there will be war", is rhetorical...obviously it is more difficult to have peace within diversity, for we are all trained to see "what is different" & question it.

But is difference enough for war? Humm, I am not wise enough to know the answer to this for sure, but I suspect from history, it is one of, if not, the key driver for war.

In a world dominated by the thinking of economic rationalism, your Dilbert quote is painful to say the least.

Regardless of the true answer to these issues, I'm proud to have you as friend, colleague, mentor and....
